From raw file to streamable lesson — the pipeline and what to expect from it.
01Upload inside the curriculum
Videos attach to lessons directly in the curriculum builder: open a lesson, choose upload, pick your file. Uploads go straight from your browser to our storage in resumable parts, so a dropped connection on a big file does not restart the whole upload.
02What good source footage looks like
Upload the best quality you have — 1080p or higher, H.264 in MP4 is ideal, but the pipeline accepts most common formats. Clear audio matters more than sharp video: students forgive grainy slides, they do not forgive muffled sound. Record in a quiet room and normalize your levels before uploading.
03Processing
After upload, each video passes our transcoding pipeline: it is converted into adaptive streaming at several resolutions (1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p) with thumbnails and a scrubbing storyboard generated automatically. Watch the status in the studio — queued, processing, then ready. Large files take a while; you can keep building the course meanwhile.
04If processing fails
A failed status means the file could not be converted — usually an unusual codec or a corrupt export. Re-export from your editor as standard MP4 (H.264 video, AAC audio) and upload again. If a standard file fails twice, contact support with the lesson name; pipeline logs let us see exactly where it stopped.
05Replace any time
Need to fix a lesson after publishing? Upload the new version to the same lesson. The new file processes and replaces the old stream; students simply see the updated lesson. Keep lessons current — maintained courses keep their ratings.
